Biography
Marian is a self-published, Nationally Acclaimed artist with numerous credits
and awards. She grew up on a small Minnesota farm bordering
a creek and a lake. Her natural artistic ability and strong love
for the outdoors, developed at an early age. She spent a great deal
of time with her father, an avid hunter, who taught her about wildlife.
Her subjects are majestic and powerful in their beauty set against
a background of their natural habitats. Her extensive research into
authentic situations includes traveling, river voyages, canoeing,
hiking, backpacking, dog sledding, hunting, black powder rendezvous
and powwows.
Early in her career Marian was known for her portrait
painting, in which she won numerous awards in portraiture. Another
segment of her earlier career included surrealism art, which she
exhibited in New York, winning several international medals of honor.
Her work today is very diversified ranging from Wildlife
& Western to Landscape and Nostalgia. Each painting reflects
countless hours of research and planning before she begins to paint.
Marian paints oil on stretched canvas because she likes the "live
feeling" under her brush. Her art is exhibited in galleries
and private art collections throughout the United States and abroad.
Marian Anderson's art studio and gallery are located in a fieldstone home built by Marian's late husband Vince Meyer on a wooded hill overlooking
